About Robert Gerety, DDS
Over
the past two decades, Dr. Robert Gerety has provided orthodontic education
for thousands of general and pediatric dentists. Participants in his courses
often call him the finest orthodontic clinician teaching in this country
today. During that time he has fine-tuned his own Straight Wire® technique,
continually updating his methods by adding the latest and best innovations
in dentistry. He has practiced non-extraction for 19 years.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma and the
University of Tennessee Dental School, he established a practice in Henryetta,
OK. He first incorporated Straight Wire® orthodontics into his practice
in 1970 and has maintained meticulous records of all his cases, including
yearly follow-ups.
Dr. Gerety now lives in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where
he continues to practice his clinical orthodontics with his son, a pediatric
dentist and daughter-in-law, a general dentist.
About Kay Gerety
With over 25 years experience in
dentistry, Kay Gerety is fully knowledgeable
in Dr. Gerety's orthodontic system. She has served as an assistant at Dr.
Gerety's courses for more than 18 years. A valuable addition to the course,
she helps Dr. Gerety provide personal assistance to participants during
the many lab exercises which are an integral part of the seminars.
For the last 18 years she has taught
auxiliary courses for the AOS. Kay teaches a special Basic Assistants course
concurrent with the fourth session of each of Dr. Gerety's courses. This
assistants' course provides detailed instruction on how assistants can
help their doctors in orthodontics. Kay also teaches an Advanced Assistants
course to further enhance the value of orthodontics to your practice.
A highly enthusiastic presenter,
Kay provides motivation as well as enabling her students to return to their
doctors' practices with a renewed excitement about dentistry and their
ability to contribute.
Assistant Courses
During session four and five of the extended program,
a basic (4th session) and advanced (5th session) auxiliary
training course is offered. The schedule for these
courses coincide with the doctors’ program, but these
training courses are held separately from the doctors
and specifically designed for the staff. There is an additional
registration fee for the auxiliary courses. A complete
staff training manual is included with each program.
Why This Is The One Orthodontic Program
You Can't Afford to Miss...
You may have asked yourself this question and wondered
if this is the right course for you. Absolutely! This course will teach
you what you should have been taught in dental school. Orthodontics is
not complicated or difficult, but you have to be trained. Just as you have
learned every other aspect of dentistry. Dr. Gerety's method of teaching
will take away the mystery of orthodontics. Each session builds on information,
presented in the same sequence you will encounter in treatment delivery.
When you have completed this course, you will have the knowledge, skill
and confidence to complete 80% of the malocclusions that come into your
office.
1. Will I have the opportunity to have my cases reviewed
for diagnosis, treatment planning and trouble shooting?
Yes! Every Sunday of the extended program is devoted
to case diagnosis. Utilizing (4) closed circuit monitors and video photography,
each participant has the opportunity to present cases. No more looking
over shoulders and trying to catch a peek of what is being taught. All
records including radiographs, models, photographs and health history are
viewed by all participants in a formal classroom setting. This type of
presentation allows each participant to view and diagnose 75 - 100 cases
each session.
2. Can I take individual sessions of the course?
No! This course is designed to be a comprehensive program,
beginning with diagnosis and treatment planning through case finishing
mechanics. Each session builds on the previous session therefore you need
to attend all sessions. This is not your typical weekend course - it is
a complete training program.
3. How will I get help with cases that I have in treatment?
Unlike other courses, you are allowed to repeat this
course the following year as a monitor at no charge. This additional year
gives you 15 more days of instruction and also gives you sufficient time
to start and finish cases under direct supervision.
In this course you will be taught what is needed to earn
recognition awards. Over the past 25 years the AOS has provided a peer
review process designed to recognize the orthodontic proficiency of our
members. Designed to foster excellence in your practice, these awards consist
of a logical progression of requirements beginning with Achievement, then
Fellowship and finally culminating with Diplomate.
