Advanced Orthodontic Assistant Training Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This ADVANCED course for dental assistants and hygienists is a unique 2-day course, which will elevate your staff’s orthodontic knowledge, focusing on Class II and Class III cases, debonding and retention. Students should have some knowledge of orthodontic concepts, such as changing and ligating wires. A total of 16 CE hours may be obtained if attending both days in their entirety. Friday and Saturday are 8:00 am-5:30 pm, with a 1-hour lunch break. This lecture and hands-on course will enable you to: Understand the use and placement of the MDA (Multi Distalizing Appliance) Understand the use of a “Big Daddy” appliance - a buccal expansion alternative Understand the use of curves in rectangular arch wires – buccal root torque Understand the concept of full intercuspation of the premolars   Understand the use of sectionals and cross arch elastics Understand retention and standard of care final records Understand scheduling and profitability Understand the process for removing bands and brackets Understand the difference between Class II and Class III appliances  Understand Cephalometric Landmarks Supply “Course Participation Accountability” for the doctor. Course fee is $550 for AOS member-sponsored attendees, $650 for nonmember-sponsored attendees.
